Repeat after me - "very unfortunate"

President Trump called the killing of Alex Pretti a “very unfortunate incident.”

Very unfortunate: ten shots, point blank, less than five seconds. Masked federal agents on the US government payroll executing an ICU nurse on the streets of Minneapolis. Below-zero empathy.

Here’s what he said in Iowa:

“Reporter: Do you agree with the assessment from some of your own officials that Alex Pretti is a domestic terrorist or an assassin?

Trump: Well, I haven’t heard that. He shouldn’t have been carrying a gun. Bottom line, everybody in this room, we view that as a very unfortunate incident. Everyone, unless you’re a stupid person, very, very unfortunate. I don’t like that he had a gun. I don’t like that he had two fully loaded magazines. That’s a lot of bad stuff. And despite that, I say that’s a very unfortunate.

C-Span Clip showing this.

Repeat after me: it was a very unfortunate incident.

That’s what you call it when your dry cleaning isn’t ready on time. When you miss a flight. When you spill coffee on your laptop.

Not when federal agents pile on top of a man in broad daylight and fire ten rounds into his body.

Pretti is the second US citizen killed by federal forces in Minnesota this month. Multiple bystander videos contradict the government’s claim that he “approached officers with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun” and “attacked” them. The footage shows him holding a phone. Recording. Then on the ground. Then dead.

But to the President of the United States, this warrants the same level of concern as a minor car crash.

Very unfortunate.

Good to see CSPAN allow citizens to ‘clip’ and quote their news videos. Puts more power in the hands of the people.
